Identifying and Digitising Eastern Salient Manuscripts of Java (EAP1334)

Aims and objectives

The project aims at identifying and digitising Eastern Salient manuscripts of Java located in Banyuwangi, Jember, Bondowoso, Situbondo, and Lumajang. They are written in Arabic, Perso-Arabic, Carakan, and Javanese scripts. Concrete data about the manuscripts are still not available that it is important to make them so for future scholarly researches. The will be provided data cover aspects of pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), religion, history, culture, metaphysics, etc. Due to vulnerability of the manuscripts, they will be digitised by being photographed on location. If applicable, they will be relocated and kept by the nearest archival partners according to their locations.
