Aims and objectives
This digitisation project is based on EAP1123, a survey of collections of palm-leaf manuscripts and paper accordion books held in temple collections in the historically Mon communities of Thailand, largely around Bangkok. In recognition of the fact that such texts are both rare and often overlooked, the first priority are texts in the Mon language related to such ‘secular’ subjects as history, literature, astrology. Second priority are Mon- language religious treatises, and Pāli grammatical works. Six temple collections form the core of this project, with the possibility of visiting additional sites should access be negotiated.
