Digitisation of the archive of The Society of Malawi (EAP1451)

Aims and objectives

The Society of Malawi, founded in 1946 and formerly known as “The Nyasaland Society”, is located in Blantyre, Malawi. Its members want to digitise and catalogue the oldest of the Society’s historical records which are part of the cultural heritage of the country for preservation and accessibility for the public. The records originate from the colonial period of Malawi and take the form of books, files, photos and maps. These materials have been collected by the Society or given to it by its members or members of the public since 1946.
